Namaste Behna (नमस्ते बहना)

Skilling Young Women (Ages 18–25)
From Dependence to Dignity

In many parts of rural and semi-urban India, young women face a dual struggle — the burden of financial dependence and the lack of access to skill-based training. This combination often limits their choices, confidence, and ability to shape their own future. Namaste Behna, an empowering initiative by Aratrika Human Foundation, is designed to bridge this gap by offering practical, low-cost, livelihood-oriented training programs to women between the ages of 18 to 25 years.

This program is rooted in the belief that every woman deserves the opportunity to earn, grow, and live with dignity — regardless of her socio-economic background.

Our Objectives

The primary goal of Namaste Behna is to provide women with skills that are:

  • Immediately employable
  • Culturally appropriate
  • Low-cost and sustainable
  • Scalable to match market needs

By enabling young women to generate income through jobs or self-employment, the program also seeks to elevate their status in families and communities, turning them into role models for future generations.

The Impact We Aim For

We measure our success not just by job placement rates, but by:

  • Increased financial contribution of women to household income
  • Delay in early marriage due to economic independence
  • Enhanced decision-making power and self-confidence
  • Local recognition of women as skilled contributors
